Eddie Carrillo

Writer, creative, and brand strategist

Consultant-turned-creative. I started my career in consulting, but I was desperate to be creative, so I became a copywriter. Now I do both – blending strategic thinking and imaginative storytelling to build brands people actually like.

My work at Strava covers brand voice, campaign strategy, AI voice design, and copy for social, email, push, UX writing, and film. I’ve also done brand consulting and copywriting work for other clients, including Thorne, BetterHelp, and BetterSleep.

How I approach work

The four principles I always think about.

01

Start with the business problem

Strategy comes first: what the business needs, what success looks like, and what has to change. The creative is how that gets done.

02

Trust your instincts

AI is great for speed and options, but deciding which idea is right is a human call, and that’s where the good work comes from.

03

Know who you're talking to

Good copy is written for a specific person, so the first job is understanding what they care about and how they talk.

04

Sound like a human

A brand should read like one person on every surface, from the smallest button to the biggest campaign.

Experience

I started my career as a management consultant. Then went to grad school, pivoted, and built my creative career at Strava.
